Tulum’s bars scene is for sure the most tempting I have ever seen in my life. You can hop from one place to another and never get bored. The choice is amazing but also not obvious as some of the bars are hidden gems and not so easy to find. Majority of them are super stylish, with its own unique decor, chill out zones, great cocktails and delicious finger food. What I also really love in Tulum is the fact, that you can stay on the beach or at the nearby bars from morning till late night and you absolutely do not need to worry about what your are wearing. Your beach clothes and sandals are perfect for everywhere. No entry selection and no dress code at all.
Do you want to check some of my best finds in Tulum? Let`s see:
1. Nomade Tulum Beach Bar
Number one on my list is the place where we have spent most of our beach time. It’s a boho style hotel and beach bar with beautiful decor and lots of lounge places to lay down with your drink. Hammocks are hanging between palm trees, low tables tempting to sit down and snack in the shadow and comfy pillows promising to make you even more comfortable. Do I need to say anything more? Ok, so chill out music is perfectly matched with surrounding and you can find there one of the best food I had in Tulum. Try grilled shrimp tacos and of course guacamole. Both delicious!
What I also love there is the wine list with good choice of reasonably priced wines. Good to know if you are a wine lover or if you need some change from margaritas. The atmosphere is fantastic, the beach is very well maintained and it’s simply beautiful.
2. Ciel Rose Sunset Bar
The highest bar in Tulum from where you can witness beautiful Mexican sunsets. We have been ending basically every day at that place. They have absolutely the best bar tender and once you will try his margaritas you will fully agree with me. He really knows a lot about Mexican alcohol and can explain you all the details and differences.
Aside from drinks, Ciel Rose serves also delicious food. We have tried almost everything from the menu and have never been disappointed. Order octopus tacos, raw tuna tostadas and of course guacamole. If you are looking for one of the coolest bars in Tulum, that serves both food and drinks and has spectacular sunset view, that is the one. The only thing is that it is not so easy to find as this place is a bit hidden and not in the beach line. So first find Puro Corazon restaurant that belongs to the same owner and than ask for a sunset bar. It’s right at the backyard.
3. Azulik Hotel Beach and Rooftop Bar
Posh eco place and definitely the most expensive that we have been to in Tulum, but still worth the visit. Beach bar is perfectly organized with swings, net sittings, beach sofas and nice music played in the background. The bar offers drinks, wines, local beers, smoothies and snacks that rely on fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
For evening drinks move to the upper floor bar and believe me, you will be impressed. It’s designed in the way to make you feel like in the luxurious jungle house. Lots of hanging lounge places to sip your drinks and also an outside located tables designed in a form of nests. Absolutely spectacular place to watch the sunset. The only disadvantage of Azulik is that this place is pretty expensive. Also, I would not recommend a dinner there. We did that and regretted as the price was out of the blue and the quality of food did not justify that at all.
4. Coco Tulum Beach Bar
Another location that combines both food and drinks. It’s also one of the most photographed beach bars in Tulum. If you have seen some pictures of white painted place with lots of swings around the bar, its most probably this one. Coco Tulum is a stylish but easy going hotel with nice bar located at the beach. They offer good choice of drinks, tasty snacks and nice lounge area. The place is also super picturesque and just few steps away from the sea. You can sunbathe or just cool down in the shadow all day long.
5. Punta Piedra Beach Posada
Punta Piedra is a hotel and beach bar and it shares the same beach with Azulik hotel. The beach bar is open for non hotel guests, serves nice drinks, wines, and outstanding food. Try tuna tostadas, I got addicted and have been eating it every single day. The new owner of the place is Italian so you will find some Italian accents in the wine list. This is an easy going and more simple beach bar comparing to other fancy beach places what makes it more casual and less expensive. For special request they are also organizing romantic beach dinners. We have booked that one night during our stay and it was so beautiful and romantic with all the candles and the full moon just above our heads.
6. Papaya Playa Project
This beach club is a part of Papaya Playa Project hotel. They throw a beach party every Saturday and famous Fool Moon party once a month. You can find there trendy restaurant with rustic furnishings, and a double-decker bar with a sea view. Really cool place although margaritas they serve are not the best (nothing can beat Ciel Rose, believe me!). You have a number of options on how you would like to spend your day at Papaya Playa Project, from sunbathing to even working as they offer free wifi and outlets to charge your laptop if needed.
The only question now is, which bar will you choose? Let me know your favorite places in Tulum, I would love to see your choices!
With love,
Betty
