6 key things to pack for stylish travels

Betty

1. No time to style or wash your hair? Bandana will save you

We all know that there is not always time and possibility, or even a motivation, to have our hair styled when traveling. I have very strange, dry and curly hair type that I can style only with specific products and with my hairdryer with diffuser (do you know how it looks like? It’s huge!). All that stuff takes so much space in my luggage. So what do I do if I do not want to take all this equipment with me and still look ok? The answer is bandana! I have a lot of them and always take them with me when traveling. You can use it as a head band, style your knot top or just tie your hair to make them look more fancy.  Everything will work and since I have discovered bandanas my traveling hair struggles disappeared.

Here are some bandanas you might like:

2. Pack at least one dress (but preferably more)

You probably noticed that I wear dresses when traveling. And the reason of that is not only because they look nice on my travel pictures ;) There are several other reasons to pack dresses in your suitcase. First of all dresses are so easy to wear. You pack a dress and you have the whole outfit ready. No problem with matching parts of your look. Secondly,  they are super comfortable. Lets be honest, we do not climb Kilimanjaro on our trips. 90 % of the places will be completely fine for a dress outfit, especially if you are visiting cities or beaches.  And last but not least, I feel super special and feminine when wearing a dress. It immediately puts me in a good mood :)

3. Statement bag will teach you not to overpack

No matter what and no matter how little place I have for the luggage, I always take with me one statement bag. I love my branded bags so much, but it doesn’t have to be any “it bag”. Beautiful basket or straw bag (did you see these beauties?) can magically turn up your look.  Also, there is another good side of traveling with this kind of bag. Over the time I have learned how not to pack too much, only the most necessary things that I really need and that I know I will be using. With a backpack is easy to overdose all the things that at the end you will never use.

Statement bags for coming season:

4. White man’s t-shirt (I really mean man’s) is a key

Well, I am always stealing a t-shirt from my husband. Why man’s t-shirt? Because they simply look better no mater what shape you are. Man’s t-shirts are looser, not tailored and have longer sleeves that you can roll to make your outfit look more effortlessly. White t-shirt goes literally with everything: a maxi or mini skirt, shorts, or even as a layer under a strap dress. You can put it inside or make a little knot tie on your belly to have a crop top.  Also, in a light color you will look less tired, especially when there is no chance to get enough sleep while traveling. If t-shirt is not your thing you may also pack a white blouse. Check here 30 white blouses you may like.

Some best white t-shirts I found:

5. Converse shoes are timeless

When I do not have much space in the luggage to take lots of shoes with me, I always pack converse shoes. It happened maybe 2 or 3 times that during my trips I was wearing heels. Most of the time I wear flat shoes. Converse shoes are comfy and easy to match with almost everything, including dresses. You can literally spend in them the whole day without hurting your feet, what is not always the case with flat sandals. A pair of Converse will also save you when the weather will change. After coming back home you can just simply wash them in the washing machine and you are done :)

Converse shoes we all need:

6. Sunglasses not only for summer

And last but not least, sunglasses. No matter if it’s a winer or summer trip I always pack a pair with me. Not only for the obvious reasons – to protect your eyes from the sun (does anyone except my husband is wearing sunglasses only for this practical reason??) I love wearing sunglasses, they are a part of my look and also – I can skip makeup when in a hurry, hahahaha. So I guess it is also a practical approach, right?

Some cool sunglasses:

Hope you enjoyed my little packing guide! Tell me if you have any special “must pack” things :)

With love,

Betty

Really great tips! I love staying stylish while travelling. My main problem is that everything crumples so easily – would love to hear your tips on that if you have any!

Hi Anna! So happy you like it!! Thank you!! Reg crumples – I iron everything at home and than the best is to roll all the clothes. Also, a good idea is a small steamer you can take with you. Or to just hang your clothes in the bathroom when you are taking a shower – it works like kind of a steamer ;) Actually, you have just inspired me to write a blog post about that! Thank you for the inspiration!!
