Spring is here! The weather is getting more and more beautiful every day and it is high time to plan some long weekend trips. Check out 10 ideas for a long weekend trip in Europe. All places are Betty On The Go tested and approved :)

1. Colioure in France

If you like good wine and spectacular landscapes, you will be in a true paradise. Collioure is a beautiful small town at the french Riviera, Occitan region, and it used to be divided into two villages separated by the River Douy. The old town to the south named Port d’Avall and the upstream port, Port d’Amunt. It is only 1 hour drive from Girona airport and 2 hours drive from Barcelona. During your weekend trip you can take nice rides to the vineyards located all around the city, enjoy walks in the tiny little streets of Colioure, relax at the beach or attend wine testings. Local cuisine is delicious with lots of sea food and the climate is warm and mild. Beautiful and calm weekend trip destination. 2. Hallstatt in Austria

Have you ever heard about this Austrian gem? Hallstatt is a small town located by the Hallstattersee (Hallstatt lake), very close to Salzburg. There is less than one thousand people leaving in Hallstatt and it’s a UNESCO heritage. The town is truly beautiful and you can book a place with a stunning lake view. There is plenty of things to do in Hallstatt of both, active leisure and calm resting. You can visit spectacular 5 Fingers lookout platform, Skywalk lookout platform, Hallstatt Salt Minor, enjoy hiking, biking or take a boat tour through Hallstattersee. The nearest airport is Salzburg, which is only 1,5 h drive but other easily connected airports are Vienna, Munich, Stuttgart or Praha. Polish mountains Międzygórze

Międzygórze is a small place located in the Sudety Mountains in Poland. It was owned by a Dutch princess, Maria Orańska, and transformed by her into stylish and peaceful holiday resort. Międzygórze is full of amazing architecture and stunning villas that we can admire until nowadays. It is placed just about 20 km from the Polish – Czech border, within 3,5 hours drive from Vienna, 3 hours from Prague and 2 hours from Wroclaw. You gonna love this place for several reasons: interesting history, perfect hiking trails, beautiful architecture, delicious food and really affordable prices. You will find here attractions also for your little ones what makes it a perfect weekend location for families with kids. 4. Piran in Slovenia

Piran is a charming city on Slovenia’s Adriatic coast, known for its long pier and beautiful Venetian style architecture. You will be delighted with it’s beauty and charm. Food and local wines are amazing, weather is pleasantly mild and the sea is warm. This Slovenian little town is still not very famous traveling location (in contrast to nearby Portoroz), therefore you will not be overwhelmed with such high number of other tourists. It is a 1,5 hour drive from Lubiana, 2,5 from Venice and 5 hours drive from Vienna. During your weekend trip can enjoy the charm of the city, visit nearby Isola or Trieste and relax by the sea. Also, within only 1 hour drive from Piran you can explore famous Predjama Castle listed among the Guiness World Records as the largest cave castle in the world.

Getting there: by car from Lubiana 1,5h drive, Venice 2,5h drive, Vienna 5 h drive. Bear in mind that parking in Piran is possible only outside of the city center but there is a shuttle bus available in place.

Attractions: relax by the sea, city walks, exploring nearby Trieste, Isola and Predjama Castle.

5. Lago di Braies in Italy

Lago Di Braies is known also as The Pragser Wildsee, Lake Prags, Lake Braies or Lago di Insta ;) The last one because of its Instagram fame. This beautiful emerald green lake is so picturesque that attracts photographers and travelers from all over the world. The lake is absolutely stunning and surrounded by the mountains mirroring in the crystal clear water. Located 1496 m above the sea level makes it a good starting point for hikes, ski tours, snowshoe hikes and walks.

Very brave souls dive into the ice cold crystal clear water of Lago di Braies but those who prefer a more relaxed life can chill out on the boat trip. From mid June to end September you can hire nostalgic rowing boats that up to 100 years ago had been the only way of reaching the Southern shores of the lake. Charming and extraordinary place. 6. Moravia in Czech Republic

When thinking about wine destination, would Czech Moravia be your first indication? Well, most probably not. But did you know that Czech Republic is famous not only from beer but also from high quality wine? Although the country has garnered worldwide acclaim for its beer, in the Moravian region wine is the actual star. If you have never considered to explore this part of Europe, you definitely should. This region offers cultural and natural heritage placed among the most interesting and well preserved in Europe. Impressive castles, beautiful old towns and historical churches, just to name a few. Add to this picture mild climate and great local cuisine and you will find yourself in a perfect place to spend couple of nice days and recharge your batteries. 7. Morskie Oko Lake in Poland

Morskie Oko located in the Tatra Mountains is a perfect trip destination for every mountain lover. The lake is truly beautiful and the area offers several hiking trials with different difficulty levels for both, experienced hikers and those with no experience at all.  You can stay for the night in the simple chalet located right by the lake to make your stay more intimate and to avoid the crowds of other tourists. They are usually leaving the place already in the afternoon. Waking up early to witness the beautiful sunrise over the mountains makes it an unforgettable experience. Have you even heard of the enchanting lake in Slovenia with picturesque island located in the middle of it? Saying that this place is beautiful is a big understatement. Looks truly like a painting and I can certainly name it a hidden European gem. The whole country is full of beautiful places and together with the town of Piran, Bled is my another favorite to visit in Slovenia. If you have never considered visiting this small but reach in attractions country, believe me, you are missing a lot. The Kings Lake will leave you with a fascination which has made this place well known far beyond its borders. After spending a weekend in this truly idillic place, I am not surprised it is chosen every year as one of the top destinations in Germany. For every lake and mountain enthusiast, Königssee in Bayern is an unconditionally must visit place. Not only because of the beautiful location but also because of a great number of different attractions you can enjoy. Mountain hiking, biking, swimming, boat tours, chasing waterfalls, your agenda will be really full. 10. Wachau Valley in Austria

Do you like bike trips and fun outdoor activities? Do you like wine? Or maybe you like exploring cozy little towns? For any of this reasons a trip to Wachau Valley in Austria will be a great choice. This wine Valley of Lower Austria region is a 30-kilometers (18-miles) stretch alongside the Donau River, located between the towns of Melk and Kremswhat. It’s literally squeezed between picturesque cliffs and hills therefore the natural beauty of this UNESCO heritage is simply unique.
